Angelo Taylor

Sprints, Hurdles & Jumps

Angelo Taylor's career as an elite athlete spans well over a decade, and in that time he has won more than 23 national and international championship medals and a total of eight World Championships and Olympic medals.  Taylor’s success on the track started at a young age.  In addition to numerous state titles, in 1995 & 1996 Taylor won his first international hardware as he finished third at the World Junior Championships.  In 1998, Taylor won the NCAA title in the 400M Hurdles and 4x400M relay while attending the Georgia Institute of Technology.  Taylor also ran the fastest-ever time for a 19-year-old in the 400H.  If he had been born two days later, his 47.90 at the 1998 USA Championships would have been a world junior record.  In 2000, Taylor won Olympic gold just four years after graduating from high school, at age 21.  Eight years later, Angelo entered the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing as an underdog, a role he embraced.  But after leading the field in each of the first two rounds, the stage was set for Angelo's rise back to the top of the sport.  In the 400-meter hurdles final, Angelo ran the race of his life, crossing in a personal best to capture Olympic gold.  At the very least, Angelo was back on top of the sport and he capped an amazing week at the Games by leading the U.S. 4x400 team to gold.  During the 2012 Olympics, Angelo was named team captain for the USA men’s track and field team.  Taylor also won a Silver Medal in the 4X400 Meter Relay in the 2012 London Games.

Angelo has been inducted into the Georgia Tech Hall of Fame, Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and the Ga High School Track Association Hall of Fame.

Taking his speed to the international stage, Angelo's success continued.  Now certified as a USA track and field coach, Angelo is taking his career to another level while teaching athletes how to sustain being healthy and on top.  He will work and organize the training for all athletes.  He has impeccable skills in hurdling/sprints/jumps, in conjunction with the ability to motivate and support his athletes.  Angelo has the tools, knowledge and skills coupled with the fuel to turn uncommon goals into reality.
